Bagasse clamshells are sold in packs of 50. Open the 1000ml two-division clamshell or the 450ml hamburger clamshell page to see specifications. Sizes run from the 450ml hamburger box up to the 1200ml three-division square clamshell, so you can match the container to the meal. Enviromall states home breakdown times of 60 to 120 days for the 1000ml two-division box and 30 to 90 days for the 850ml single-compartment base.

Which container suits hot or microwaved food?

Check the material first. According to Enviromall's deli containers page, its PLA packaging is not intended for high temperatures and is not suitable for microwave or oven use. Its bagasse takeaway page, by contrast, describes the range as microwaveable and freezer friendly and lists the 850 ml single-compartment base as suitable for hot and cold foods.

FAQs

What is the difference between biodegradable and compostable?

Biodegradable materials can be broken down by microorganisms over time. Compostable materials are designed to break down under suitable composting conditions into natural components without leaving harmful residues. Compostability depends on the material, the relevant certification and the composting environment, so biodegradable and compostable should not be used interchangeably.

How long do Enviromall containers take to break down?

Enviromall's estimated composting times depend on the material and conditions. Its disposal guidance lists 2–4 months for bagasse in home composters and 1–3 months in industrial composters. PLA deli containers are estimated to take 6–12 months at home and 3–6 months in industrial facilities. Actual breakdown times vary with material thickness and composting conditions.

Are Enviromall containers microwave-safe?

It depends on the material. Enviromall describes its bagasse takeaway containers as microwave-safe, while its PLA deli containers are not suitable for microwave or oven use. Always check the individual product specifications before heating food.

Can I collect my order in Johannesburg?

Yes. Enviromall offers free collection from its Johannesburg head office in Honeydew, saving the standard R180 delivery fee for main-centre orders. Check the website's shipping policy for the applicable delivery terms and collection details.
